      A study of photo-neutron reactions in Argon and Krypton

      Abstract
      Total photo-neutron reaction cross section has been experimentally determined for Argon and Krypton. The values obtained for the cross sections have been compared with earlier results. These results have been discussed on the basis of a few existing models specially the Goldhaber and Teller model. Results obtained for Krypton have been compared with results reported by the Linac group at Stanford using the inelastic electron scattering techniques for the excitation of the giant resonance in nuclei. A disagreement between theory and experiment that has been reported by Stanford group, has been found in this work, to be due to an approximation they made.
