      Abstract
      A series of experiments was conducted from 1991 to 1994 on an alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.)/meadow bromegrass (Bromus biebersteinii Roem and Schult.)/Russian wildrye grass (Psathyrostachys juncea (Fisch.) Nevski) pasture to determine the effects of grazing method (continuous and rotational stocking) and stocking rate (light; 1.1 steers ha$\sp{-1};$ heavy; 2.2 steers ha$\sp{-1})$ on foraging behaviour, plant and animal productivity, plant botanical composition, soil surface characteristics and nutrient composition of grazed herbage and how those compared to clipped samples.
