dc.description.abstract | The problems involved in quantitative analysis of the solanaceous alkaloids are many and varied, and much work has been done in an attempt to improve on the time-honored method at present appearing in most official compendia. Atropine, hyoscyamine and scopolamine* are all determined together by a single titration in this method, and the results are expressed as "total alkaloids, calculated as hyoscyaminen". The process is termed a "proximate assay", that is, one in which similar compounds are grouped for purposes of standardization. | en_US |
