Research was conducted from 1992 to 1994 at Indian Head, to determine the residual activity of imazethapyr on wheat and canola grown in zero- and conventional-tillage systems. Crop injury was evident one year after application, but not two. Canola was affected more than wheat and this was observed to a greater extent in conventional tillage. Further research is required to determine if this was due to greater herbicide decomposition or adsorption in the zero-tillage system, or to the physical separation of crop from herbicide residues.en_US
