Abstract
Some of the prior techniques for taking coronary arteriograms have involved the injection of large quantities of potentially toxic radio-opaque dye directly into the root of the aorta, followed by the taking of an X-ray picture. By synchronizing the injection and the firing of the X-ray machine to the E.C.G. output it is believed that the quantity of dye necessary for optimum visualiza-tion has been minimized. This has been accomplished with the aid of, a transistorized automatic injection scheduling and timing apparatus, which is described in detail in this thesis. Other applications for the apparatus are also described -- in particular the application to vectorcardio-graphy.
