Abstract
A raster-scanned, color display system refreshed by recycling data stored in the core memory of a Digital Equipment Corporation PDP 8/E minicomputer is described in detail. The system, which makes use of the computer's Data Break facility, was tested on a monochromatic monitor but is capable of generating images in seven colors with a flicker rate of sixty hertz. The limited amount of core memory available with this type of minicomputer has forced certain restrictions on the overall capability of the system, particularly for cartographic data which was the main point of interest in this work.
