Abstract
The-preparation, spectroscopic properties and antineoplastic activities of a series of alkyl styryl ketones are presented.
Unsaturated ketones are known to have alkylating properties. 1-Phenyl-1-nonen-3-one (51) and nuclear substituted derivatives were prepared as potential biological alkylating agents. The influence of aromatic substituents and the length of the alkyl side chain in relation to biological activity was undertaken.
The olefinic bonds in the series of 1-(substituted phenyl)-1-nonen-3-ones had the E configuration. Infrared spectroscopy was useful for detecting mixtures of s-cis and s-trans rotational isomers.
