Abstract
A multi-channel data acquisition system for mapping the precordial equipotential contours is described in this thesis. The system acquires 26 different precordial signals and maps the precordial potentials on a graphic display, under the control of a PDP Lab 8/E minicomputer, through an interprocessor buffer interface.
The data acquisition software uses a ring buffer to acquire the precordial signals until an external event signals the process to stop after acquiring a predetermined number of samples. The software is also capable of storing the acquired data in a mass storage medium, after checking the acceptability of the data.
The mapping routine interpolates the acquired precordial data and maps the precordial potentials on a graphic display.
The designed system is also able to acquire and map the precordial potentials with minimum user interaction. It does this by employing a utility program available in the PDP Lab 8/E software.
