Abstract
This thesis is based on a study of fiber optic connector test systems in the optical qualification process. The study focused on a method to improve current test procedures for fiber optic connectors by analyzing vertex offset. The automation of the analysis of this parameter with the use of image-capture equipment and a microcomputer was investigated. On the basis of the results of this investigation, a prototype of an automated vertex analyzer test station was developed. The test method developed in conjunction with current test procedures will improve qualification and reliability of fiber optic connectors.
