dc.description.abstract | In this thesis, a general survey of the technical problems involved in the construction of a birth delivery trainer is given. The possible degree of refinement for such trainer is virtually unlimited due to the complexity of the real-life situation to be modelled. In consultation with Dr. T. Maclachlan of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University Hospital of Saskatoon, the most significant parameters in the mechanisms of labor have been classified into first order effects, second order effects and third order effects. The solutions to the technical problems associated with the model which adequately represents the first order effects are proposed. A cost estimation of the proposed trainer model is also given. | en_US |
