In my exploration, I examine how objects function as mediating devices for migrants, acting as tangible manifestations of familiarity and continuity amidst the changes, distortions and upheavals that migration brings. These "belongings" transcend their material form, embodying personal and collective narratives, identity, memory, culture, and family heritage. Reflecting on my experience, I consider the elements and patterns I've carried with me, that have kept me grounded and anchored in my identity, despite the upheavals of new environments. This thesis delves into the precariousness of the migratory journey and the enduring aspects of self that persist through transformation. The skewing and refiguration of these original forms reflect the whirlwind I have unexpectedly found myself within. This journey, in Ajakubo, is a process of navigating through change while holding onto the core of one's identity.
