dc.description.abstract | A laser system has been designed and constructed for ophthalmological research. The device uses a ruby crystal as the active medium with a pulsed xenon flashtube as the pumping light source,. L' new reflector system was developed to improve the coupling efficiency between the pumping source and the active medium.. Laser beam intensity and diameter control mechanisms, and a pilot light system for directing and focusing purposes, have been incorporated into the laser coagulating unit. Some aspects of light coagulation and the basic principles of laser operation are discussed | |
