Abstract
This thesis consists of syntheses of a number of B-amino ketones, a class of compounds known to possess a wide range of pharmacological properties.
Two main series (B) and (D) were prepared to examine the relation-ship between chemical structure and antimicrobial activity. The related cyclic analogs (A) and (C) were also prepared for comparison of their antimicrobial properties with that of the above two series (B) and (D), in order to give information regarding the distance necessary for high biological activity between groups present in these series of compounds.
