Abstract
The particle-hole of nuclear excited states is discussed, and a method of obtaining excited state wave functions is outlined for a simple version of the model. Expressions are given for cross sections for excitation of particle-hole states by inelastic electron scattering. Particle-hole model predictions and experimental results concerning dipole states in C12 and Si28 are given. The feasibility of using the Saskatchewan electron accelerator to study these states is considered. The nature and size of background to be expected is discussed in detail.
