Abstract

This paper explores the development and implementation of a device-based training program for caregivers during humanitarian crises, in collaboration with World Without Orphans (WWO). The project described here aims to adapt WWO’s Hope Groups facilitator training, originally intended to be completed in-person, into an accessible, engaging, and interactive online format using Rise 360 – a product of Articulate 360. The project addresses the urgent need for scalable training solutions to support caregivers in crisis situations, such as war, displacement, and natural disasters. The literature review highlights the critical role of parental support in mitigating the adverse effects of crises on children, emphasizing the importance of mobile device accessibility and engagement through technology. The adaptation process of the Hope Groups curriculum is explained, with emphasis on enhancing and transforming learning experiences through the SAMR model. The project includes 15 microlessons, covering essential topics such as coping with loss, maintaining safety, and fostering resilience. The project highlights the challenges and rewards of collaborating with NGOs, the importance of cybergogy in creating engaging online learning environments, and the potential for future adaptations and translations of the training materials. The project aims to equip facilitators with the necessary tools to effectively support caregivers, ultimately benefiting vulnerable children in crisis-affected regions.
