Abstract
This presentation deals with the definition of scholarship; the nature and extent of librarians' scholarship; the motivation for librarians to engage in scholarship; and the value of scholarship by librarians
to the individual, the library, the host institution and the profession. A comparison is made of the expectations for scholarship in the professional standards for librarians at the University of Calgary and the University of Saskatchewan.
