The purposes of the study were to piece together the available resources in order to bring Annie Hollis's contributions to Saskatchewan out of obscurity, to examine her as a someone who resisted prevailing patriarchal prescriptions for women's lives, and to understand her as an educator who worked as an organic intellectual in the Saskatchewan farm movement. The study is based upon methods and theories of feminist biography and upon Antonio Gramsci's concept of the organic intellectual. The significance of the study for adult education is in its assertion of the importance of the role of organic intellectuals in social movement adult education as well as in the relevance of past struggles of women and co-operative socialists to the issues adult educators face today.ANNIE HOLLIS (1871-1941): SASKATCHEWAN ORGANIC INTELLECTUALThesis
