Abstract

The exhibition Felicitous Space is an inquiry into the significance of the emotional connection I experience when considering the ideals of home and domestic architecture. This exhibition reflects my current preoccupation with the adage “what makes a house a home” and responds to the challenges of claiming and shaping domestic space. I am particularly interested in the impact on homeowners of the consumer marketing of luxury goods and furnishings that resemble antiques or relics from the ornate baroque period. This paper is a supporting document for an exhibition project entitled Felicitous Space which consists of 12 large scale oil on canvas paintings on display in a gallery setting.
